Baptism: Step by Step

Just like a wedding ceremony, baptism is a declaration. Eventually, the ceremony will be forgotten and all the euphoria will  go away. We may no longer remember about all the pomp and circumstances surrounding the day. However, we can recall about the significance of the day in which we took the step of declaring that we belong to God

Step by step means to progress gradually  and carefully from one stage to the next.

Scripture: Mt 13:31-32
Though the mustard seed is small, it is worthy of honor as it grows to become large and become a blessing to many other living things such as birds which will perch on its branches

Why is it OK to take our journey in small steps?

1. Small steps matter to God

Zech 4:10 who dares despise the day of small things...
When we learn, we take small steps but received affirmation all the way. Because little, insignificant things matter to God. Just showing up is enough for God because little is much when God is in it.

2. Small steps lead to big steps for God

God sees the small mustard seed becoming the big tree. Just like the Chinese proverb: a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. The success of the growth is thru God - we can plant and water but God gave the increase.

David the boy took a small step for God with small stones versus the large weapons belonging to Goliath. With God's help, he defeated Goliath.

Begin the journey - taking a small step is better than no step.
Start praying, start rejoicing, start giving thanks...
