Project Management

QUESTION: WHAT IS NEXT?

So you have written and published a book on Simple Project Management. What are your plans now? Will you stop teaching the class and ask the folks to buy your book instead?

The main reason why I said "YES" when I was approached to teach the class many years ago, is to enable others to know about Project Management. The Singapore manufacturing plant for LC/MS was just set up in 2008 and except for the core leadership team, a large number of the folks were hired from school. As a PM who has seen some success in past projects, I was tasked then to create a course to teach the fresh engineers the skills required to lead projects for continuous improvement and value engineering.

After being in the profession for 20+ years and teaching for 10+ years, the question to ask is what happens when I no longer have the strength to do so?

Or perhaps there is 1 day in the future when I decide to leave the company (when I achieve my retirement goal). Even then, I would love to continue teaching. While having some book sales is nice, the motivation is never about selling the book or making money but to enable that everyone has access to the info and knowledge that I have gained over the many years...call it a legacy or something.

P.S. in case you are wondering, everyone who attends my class gets the e-book for free.

But I guess that it is probably true that in order to enable the knowledge to be shared, the best location to store the info is in the Internet. So let's do this - let me put some time and effort into the blog.
