Banksy has elevated street graffiti from plain nuisance to one where people are willing to splurge large amounts of money at Sotheby's for a piece of art.
For those who are unfamiliar with him (we think it is he), Banksy is a English-based artist who combines dark humor with activist messages in a distinctive stencil art form...and he does it in street locations starting in Bristol and extends to New York, Palestine, to the West Bank wall in Israel. Interestingly, the real identity of Banksy remains unknown which is a feat by itself in this day and age.
