Season of Fresh Winds

Notes from Sermon by Senior Pastor Daniel Khong of FCBC

Background:

We cannot organize revival but we can set our sails to catch the wind from Heaven when God chooses to blow upon his people once again - G Campbell Morgan

Scripture: Acts 1-3

Jesus has promised his disciples power before he ascended to heaven. On the day of Pentecost,  this came true as the disciples received the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

What must we do to catch the winds of revival?

1. Desire God's move

After Jesus has ascended, the disciples prepared themselves by going into prayer and they were all in one accord. Then all of a sudden, a sound came from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind. If we want God to move, we must desire and be prepared for it.

2. Dare to move

Every time God moves, there will be resistance. It is in these moment that we need to step up. While there is desire to move according to God's will, it is often difficult as there is risk of failure.  But move we must, even if we are in the doldrums.

The Doldrums is a real place in the Pacific Ocean, also known as the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone where there is little or no winds. Lesson from a naval officer on how to sail in the Doldrums when the currents and winds are unpredictable.
  • Do not idle, instead prepare
  • Do not switch off, stay alert
  • Do everything you can to avoid drifting
  • Do not be stubborn,  be adaptable
  • Do not give up, press on (if there is no wind, we will paddle)
Our role is to not give up and follow the winds as given by God. Sometimes the hardest part of faith is in the last half hour before breakthrough - David Wilkerson

Let us believe the breakthrough will happen, that we see realities that do not yet exist, to break through the sin that we have been struggling with for years and to fulfill the mission of FCBC

1. To Preach the gospel
2. To Build the church
3. To Serve the nations
4. To Bless society

How we should respond today?
