Seek first the Kingdom

Matthew 6:33 ...seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.

These words of Jesus was preached as part of the Sermon on the Mount. Prior to this, he remarked that we should not be troubled and be worried about what we eat or drink. If God can clothe the flowers and feeds the birds, He will take care of us because we are way more important. Jesus then concluded that we should seek first God's kingdom and all the daily necessities will be provided.

The interpretation of this by many, is that we should be concerned about God's work to his people,  to serve the poor in the community much more than be concerned about our daily needs such as food.

Let's look at this in another way to interpret this - in the eyes of simple children and look at the verse in the most literally sense.

What if the word is really asking us to seek God first, early in the morning?

If we start off our day by seeking him, say the moment we wake up, perhaps it is possible that all the other things that bother us - our issues at work or at school, our pains, our worries about our children,  our fears that we cannot find a job, the sickness that we have - all these things will be resolved, if we seek Him first in the morning. After all, God did promise that He has a plan for us, to prosper and not to harm, to give us a hope for the future.

So let's do this:

The first thing after we wake up in the morning, do not reach for the mobile phone. As much as we want to, do not check WhatsApp, Facebook or IG, our Telegram...and do not check on our e-commerce business, stocks, unit trusts, ETF or how our crypto is performing. Rather, seek God by meditating on his word, praying, praising or just be still and know that He is God. And let's see if He will fulfill his promise that all things will work for the good.

Rather than dreading to go to work because there are unresolved tasks and issues, let's spend time in the morning, say 10-15 minutes. In the process, we thus can find peace knowing that God goes ahead of us in the storm and that He will bless us exceedingly abundantly infinitely more than we can ask or imagine.
