Sermon by Ps Roland Lee at the Faith Community Baptist Church on 16 May 2026.
Background:
God wants us to be succesful...that we will always be ath the top, not at the bottom. If we meditate on the book of the law, God promises us that we will be prosperous and successful. Success is to know our purpose, growing into our maximum potential and sowing seeds that benefits others.
Bur do we need to compromise our principles to be successful?
Scripture:
Daniel was made the 3rd highest ruler in the empire of Darius and Cyrus the Persian, after brought into captivity to serve Babylon. In the Bible, Babylon is the religious, social, political and economic system that has yet to know God. Daniel did not compromise - true success is not measured by how high we rise, but how faithful we are to God.
How to be successful without compromising our faith?
1. Be princpled in our conduct
We need to have a moral rule and belief that helps us tell what is right and guide pir actions. This rule must be on the word of God - your word i have hidden in my heart, that I may not sin against God. We must not be led by "price" rather than by "principles". To our earthly masters, we must be responsible and fully trustworthy, serve them faithfully, work with enthusiasm, and please our masters.
2. Be persistent in our devotion
Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself - he chose not to eat the food unacceptable to God. He asked the chief of staff for permission just to eat vegetable and water. When he did, God blessed the 4 men for understanding literature and wisdom. We need to be fully devoted to God and be firmly settled in our convictions for God.
Daniel prospered not because he became like Babylon, but because he remained devoted to God in Babylon.
The story of Daniel does not end but continue to this day. Do these to represent Jesus at our workplace:
1. Don't complain
2. Watch our language
3. Encourage others
4. Operatebin integrity
5. Pray for those you work with
6. Remember that your work isbworship for God
My concern is not whether God is on our side, my greatest concern is to be on God's side for God is always right - Abraham Lincoln
