Sermon by Senior Ps Daniel Khong at the Faith Community Baptist Church 4July 2026.
Mark 12:41-44 talks about a poor widow who gave only 2 mites versus the others who gave much more. Jesus remarked that she gave more because the rich gave from their abundance while she put in all that she had.
The idea of money came up many times because God wants to disciple us in our finances as well, in tithes (one tenth of eveything) and offerings. It is an act of worship - God has no need for money but it matters to God because it reflects the conditions of our heart. Do not hold on to things that do not last but store treasures in heaven. Because where our treasure is, there our hearts are.
Tithes are important because it is for the²7 sake of honoring the Lord. Then we received the blessings that our barns will filled to overflowig and the vat the never run dry. Why is it impoetantn
1. It demonstrates amd develops faithfulness
When we give to God, we shows our loyalty, that we adhere to the promise.
2. It demonstates and develops our faith
Without faith, it is impossible to please God. Money is inportant, but when rely on something other God. We are called to set aside first the firstfruits for God.
If you can do it by yourself, it is not faith - Rick Seaward
