Sermon by Pastor Roland Lee at the Faith Community Baptish Church 25 July 2026.
We all desire peace...and the world is desperately searching for peace. While we enjoy some comforts, we often carry burdens that we find difficulr to bear...and we never feel truly satisfied. It cannot be found in circumstances or achievements. True peace is found in the person of Jesus Christ.
...and his name shall be called...Prince of Peace. Jesus gives us true peace that transforms our lives and bless others. Peace is a practical, everyday reality.
Scripture: Philippian 4:1-9 tells of Paul writing to the Phillipians from house arrest to ask 2 leaders to resolve their conflict and seek peace.
How can we experience true peace?
1. Seek God's peace in our relationships
Paul asked the 2 leaders to settle their disagreements - blessed are the peacemakers. True peace will not fill our hearts, until we settle the issue...even if the other party is at fault. If our horizontal relationships are broken, it will affect other aspects of our lives.
2. Strengthen God's peace in our hearts
We struggle and find it dificult to have peace, which is a deep inner joy. We need to rejoice in the Lord and keep all things in prayer. Also, stop and pause our thoughts, keep them captive.
3. Share God's peace in our world
We have to keep putting into practice the blessing of others. It is not to bring peace to the world, but to share in the small world of ours. It is not the entire block but perhaps 2 to 3 neighbours each time.
